Exchange Parent Aide

Program Overview
Exchange Parent Aide is a nationally recognized, evidence-based parent education and mentoring program designed to support parents and caretakers identified as at-risk for child abuse and neglect. Services are delivered in the family’s home, with a focus on prevention, education, and strengthening family functioning.

Position Summary
The Parent Aide works directly with families to build parenting skills and positive behaviors that promote safe, stable, and nurturing home environments where children can grow and thrive. Parent Aides serve families from diverse economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds and are trained in the required evidence-based model and curriculum prior to being assigned a caseload.

The positions will work with families in Duval, Clay, St. John County. Whenever possible, client assignments are matched to home visitors based on geographic proximity. Applicants with prior in-home social services experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home parent education, mentoring, and support using an evidence-based prevention model
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
  • Assist families in developing skills that promote child safety, stability, and well-being
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with program and accreditation standards
  • Participate in required training, supervision, and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field (required)
  • At least one year of social services experience in an in-home setting preferred (all relevant social services experience considered)
  • Strong understanding of or willingness to learn evidence-based prevention services
  • Demonstrated patience, kindness, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Ability and desire to work with families in their homes

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance
  • Ability to use a personal vehicle for home visits (mileage reimbursed)
  • Successful completion of a DCF background screening prior to employment
